Before we evaluate any fabric options, we need to understand the product itself. A hoodie, a set of sweatpants, a denim jacket, and a performance tee each require a different fabric logic -- different weights, constructions, and finishing compatibility.

    Shortlisted fabrics move forward to swatch confirmation and sample garment development.

Composition, Weight,
Hand Feel and Color

These four parameters define how a fabric performs in production and how the finished garment looks and feels. Each one needs to be confirmed through physical samples -- not screen images.

Composition

What the fabric is made of

We work primarily with cotton, cotton-blend, and other project-appropriate fabric compositions. The right composition depends on the product category, intended use, and required finish.

Important: Fabrics with the same stated composition can differ significantly in weave structure, weight, surface texture, and hand feel. Composition is a starting point -- not a complete specification.

Fabric Weight (GSM)

Grams per square metre

GSM selection is based on the product structure, target season, and desired appearance. A heavyweight hoodie, a mid-weight sweatshirt, and a lightweight tee each require a different GSM range.

Note: Higher GSM does not automatically mean better quality. The right weight is the one that suits the product's structure and intended use.

Hand Feel

Softness, texture & drape

Hand feel covers softness, thickness, surface texture, stretch, and drape -- qualities that cannot be accurately judged from product images or written descriptions alone.

Always confirm by swatch or sample garment. A physical reference garment is the most reliable way to communicate the hand feel you are looking for.

Color

Pantone, samples & development

We work from available stock colors, Pantone references, color samples, and project-specific color development where applicable. Screen colors and actual fabric colors will differ -- final color must be confirmed through a physical color sample or swatch.

Note: Reasonable color variation between production batches is normal. Bulk production color is evaluated against the confirmed standard, not the original screen reference.

Choosing the right fabric also means confirming it works with the techniques your product requires. Not every fabric is suitable for every process -- this needs to be evaluated before sampling begins.

Process Compatibility Considerations

Screen printing and DTG -- fabric surface, weight, and stretch affect print adhesion and clarity

Embroidery -- fabric density and backing stability are required for consistent stitch quality

Garment washing and vintage effects -- complex wash processes require testing on the selected fabric before bulk

Rib, trims and garment structure -- fabric weight and stretch must be compatible with ribbing and panel construction

Shrinkage and dimensional stability -- pre-production testing helps prevent measurement issues in bulk

Colorfastness and surface performance -- especially relevant for garment-dyed, pigment-dyed, or washed products

    Fabric option review

    We present suitable fabric options based on your product requirements and process needs.

    Swatch or color sample confirmation

    Physical swatches or color samples are sent for your review and confirmation -- screen images alone are not sufficient.

  3. 3

    Process compatibility evaluation

    We verify that the selected fabric works with your required techniques -- printing, embroidery, washing, or other processes.

    Sample garment testing

    The fabric is used in a sample garment. Complex wash effects or special prints require testing at this stage before bulk is confirmed.

  5. 5

    Final fabric approval

    Once the sample is approved, the fabric specification is locked as the confirmed standard for bulk production.

From Approved Fabric
to Bulk Production

Once a fabric is confirmed through sample approval, it becomes the documented standard for the project. Every step from that point forward is measured against what was agreed.

Documented Standards

Confirmed composition, GSM, color, and fabric effect are recorded as the project specification before bulk procurement begins.

Pre-Production Check

Fabric requirements and availability are re-confirmed before bulk procurement. Fabric is inspected on arrival before cutting begins.

Substitution Protocol

If the original fabric becomes unavailable, any alternative must be reviewed and re-approved by the client before production proceeds.

Batch Variation

Reasonable color and hand feel variation between bulk batches is normal. Evaluation is based on the confirmed standard, not the original screen reference.
