Custom Pattern & Fit Development
for Clothing Brands

Yizhe Studio develops production-ready patterns for clothing brands based on your design direction, target silhouette, and size standard. We help you translate reference images, tech packs, size charts, and physical samples into accurate, production-ready patterns -- adjusted for fit, proportion, and construction.

-- Step 01

Define the Intended Silhouette and
Size Standard

Before any pattern work begins, we take time to understand the wearing silhouette you want to achieve -- not just the individual measurements. Whether you are developing an oversized streetwear hoodie, a relaxed-fit trouser, or a structured jacket, the intended proportions and wearing effect shape every decision in the pattern.

Our team reviews the materials you provide and asks the right questions to establish a clear fit brief before development starts.

What we look for

  • Target fit: oversized, relaxed, regular, or fitted
  • Intended customer market and size range
  • Fabric weight and drape requirements
  • Product category and construction direction

Project Information You Can Provide

Tech Pack or Specification Sheet

Detailed construction notes, measurement tables, trim specifications, and artwork placement references.

Size Chart and Base Size Measurements

Your graded size table or base size measurements used as the starting point for pattern development.

Reference Garment or Approved Sample

A physical garment that represents the target fit, construction, or proportions you want to achieve.

Front, Back and Detail Reference Images

Visual references showing the intended silhouette, key proportions, and construction details.

-- Step 02

Adjust Proportions and
Key Fit Areas

Pattern development is not a mechanical process of entering numbers. Each product has its own structural logic, and adjustments need to account for the design intent, freedom of movement, fabric behavior, and the feasibility of bulk production -- all at once.

Key areas we review and adjust

Body Length & Overall Proportion

Total garment length, torso balance, and the relationship between top and bottom proportions.

Chest, Waist and Hip Measurements

Core circumference measurements adjusted for the intended fit ease and silhouette profile.

Shoulder Width & Drop-Shoulder Position

Shoulder seam placement and drop measurements that define the upper body silhouette.

Sleeve Length, Armhole & Cuff Shape

Sleeve proportions, armhole depth and width, and cuff opening dimensions.

Neckline, Hood & Collar Structure

Neckline opening, collar stand, hood volume, and facing construction.

Rise, Inseam, Thigh & Leg Opening

Bottom garment proportions including front and back rise, thigh ease, and hem width.

Waistband, Pocket & Hem Placement

Functional and structural details that affect both the appearance and wearability of the finished garment.

-- STEP 03

Review the Sample and
Refine the Fit

Once the first sample is completed, the fit review process begins. You can evaluate the sample against your size specifications, check the wearing effect, and provide detailed feedback on any areas that require adjustment.

All feedback and agreed changes are clearly documented, so the pattern, size chart, and sample requirements stay consistent throughout the revision process.

Fit review and sample revision process

WHAT YOU CAN REVIEW

  • Measurements against your confirmed size chart
  • Silhouette and overall wearing effect
  • Construction details and workmanship
  • Proportion and balance of key fit areas

FIT REVIEW AND REVISION PROCESS

  1. Review sample measurements

Compare the sample against your confirmed size chart and record any measurement deviations.

  2. Check silhouette and wearing effect

Evaluate the overall fit, balance, and proportion against the intended wearing silhouette.

  3. Record fit and construction comments

Document all feedback clearly -- measurement changes, proportion adjustments, and construction notes.

  4. Adjust the pattern and specifications

Revise the pattern and update the size chart to reflect all confirmed changes from the review.

  5. Confirm the revised sample when required

A revised sample is produced where needed to verify that the adjustments achieve the intended fit before production approval.

-- Step 04

Confirm the
Production Fit Standard

The approved fit sample, confirmed measurement chart, and final pattern requirements form the production standard for bulk manufacturing. These documents are used as the reference throughout cutting, sewing, and quality inspection.

Establishing a clear fit standard before bulk production reduces the risk of measurement inconsistencies and ensures that the finished garments match what was approved in the sample stage.

Approved Fit Sample

The confirmed sample serves as the physical reference for bulk production quality checks.

Confirmed Measurement Chart

The final size table with all approved measurements used as the production and inspection standard.

Final Proportion & Construction Notes

Documented notes on key proportions, structural details, and any product-specific requirements.

Size Grading Requirements

Where applicable, grading rules are established to ensure consistent proportions across the full size range.

Production Measurement Checkpoints

Key measurement points are checked during and after bulk production to verify consistency against the approved fit standard.
